Zephyrhills Fatal Car Accident: 40-Year-Old Woman Killed In Deadly Crash; 6 Others Hospitalized

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is investigating a fatal crash that claimed the lives of two people early Saturday morning in Zephyrhills, Florida.

According to investigators, the collision occurred just after 4:30 a.m. on Eiland Boulevard. A Nissan Altima, traveling northbound, was occupied by a 30-year-old driver along with two passengers: a 20-year-old woman and a 4-year-old boy, all from Dade City. At the same time, a Hyundai Santa Fe was traveling in the opposite direction, driven by a 43-year-old man from Zephyrhills, with three passengers: a 40-year-old woman, a 74-year-old man, and a 75-year-old woman.

FHP reports that south of Handcart Road, the Nissan entered the southbound lane for reasons still under investigation and struck the Hyundai in what officials described as a near head-on collision.

The impact resulted in the deaths of the 4-year-old boy from the Nissan and the 40-year-old woman from the Hyundai. Their identities have not yet been publicly released pending family notification.

The remaining six individuals involved in the crash sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate and were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. Authorities confirmed that none of the surviving victims are believed to have life-threatening injuries.

Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances that led to the crash, including possible contributing factors such as roadway conditions, speed, and driver actions. No further details have been released at this time.

FHP has stated that the investigation remains active and ongoing as they work to determine exactly how the tragic collision occurred.
