Kayle Marie Stubbs, 24, of Huntington, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, after a long and courageous battle with illness. She was born on March 12, 2002, in Daytona Beach, Florida, to Timothy Stubbs and Jamie Marie McClain.
Kayle was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Mary Choma and James McClain; her cousin, James McClain; and her uncle, Bruce Adkins. Though her time here was far too short, she left a lasting imprint on every life she touched through her warmth, humor, and genuine kindness.
Kayle was known for her bright, bubbly, and witty personality. She had a natural ability to uplift others, often making people laugh and feel seen, valued, and appreciated. She enjoyed simple pleasures in life, including sitting in her hammock and chatting with neighbors, sharing stories, and enjoying everyday moments of connection.
She also had a deep love for cooking and baking, finding joy in preparing food for others. At Marshall University, she worked with Sodexo, where she was valued for her hard work, positive attitude, and friendly spirit.
Above all, Kayle will be remembered for her compassionate heart and her “old soul,” a rare and beautiful presence that brought comfort and light to those around her.
She is survived by her mother, Jamie McClain, and Forest Johnson; her beloved rabbit Hopper, whom she affectionately called her “Ride or Die”; her aunts Jeanie Adkins and Julie McClain; uncle Jimmy (Chasity) McClain; special cousins Cheyanne Roth, Mandy Roth, Jade Roth, Jace Marks, and Joanie Marks; and many close friends who became like family through her care at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, and Goodwill Industries of KYOWVA Area.
A Celebration of Kayle’s Life will be announced at a later date. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville, Ohio, is assisting the family with arrangements.
